The Western Field conservation project preserves wildlife connectivity, open farmland, floodplain, and wetlands between Bearcamp River and Route 25, right at the western edge of Tamworth. ______________________________
Thank you, Tamworth Voters. At Town Meeting on March 9, 2011, Tamworth defeated, with 82% of the vote, a petitioned warrant article to abolish the Conservation Commission.
At the end of the Town Meeting discussion, Commission Chair Ned Beecher expressed the Commission's thanks to Tamworth voters: "It's been a learning experience: the feedback from this petition and the discussions that we've had. I appreciate the variety of opinions that have been expressed.... I hope that those who are interested in what we do will come to meetings and share your opinions and provide us guidance about these important questions, about wetlands, about conserving lands. We need your input. Let us know what we can do to help. We are a Town body, and we aim to do the will of the Town."
MINUTES from the PUBLIC HEARING regarding the idea of abolishing the Commission are available below. CLARIFICATION AND RESPONSE from the Commission are attached to the minutes. A SLIDESHOW about the Commission's work, which was presented at the Public Hearing, is also available below.
